More of St. John’s archives now scanned and available online

We continue to have items from our lodge archives scanned and placed online by the DigitalNC program. The latest items scanned and returned to the lodge include our minutes from 1875 to 1914, an 1851 inventory of the lodge furnishings, an 1853 return of officers and members, and the records of the North Carolina Masonic Mutual Life Insurance Company of New Bern 1867-1870 (minutes, certificate book, and list of agents). The strangest items (we have no idea why we have them) are fourteen letters addressed to Confederate General D.H. Hill at his headquarters in New Bern in 1861 concerning the defense of eastern North Carolina from Union assault. These items can be viewed at DigitalNC
