More of St. John’s archives now scanned and available online

We continue to have items from our lodge archives scanned and placed online by the DigitalNC program. The latest items scanned and returned to the lodge include our minutes from 1875 to 1914, an 1851 inventory of the lodge furnishings, an 1853 return of officers and members, and the records of the North Carolina Masonic Mutual Life Insurance Company of New Bern 1867-1870 (minutes, certificate book, and list of agents). The strangest items (we have no idea why we have them) are fourteen letters addressed to Confederate General D.H. Hill at his headquarters in New Bern in 1861 concerning the defense of eastern North Carolina from Union assault. These items can be viewed at DigitalNC

 

Red Cross Blood Drive

St. John’s Lodge No. 3/ American Red Cross Blood Drive.
Our annual blood drive for the American Red Cross will be held at the New Bern Shrine Club, 2102 South Glenburnie Road, New Bern, NC on Sunday, June 5th, from 12:30 pm to 5:30 pm. Please turn out Brothers and bring your family and friends! Our region’s need for blood and blood products is never-ending. Your help is needed and appreciated!

First Degree

St. John’s Lodge No. 3 will conduct a FIRST DEGREE on two candidates, Wednesday, May 4, 2016, 7:30 pm, with refreshments to follow.  Please turn out and help make this a memorable evening for these candidates!

St. John’s No. 3’s early records now available on line

The first three minute books of St. John’s Lodge No. 3 covering the time period 1772 to 1849 are now available on line through the DigitalNC program operated by the North Carolina Collection, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  We hope to have all of our valuable records scanned and available on line through this wonderful program.  Watch for future updates.
